Gopher Control in Marion County

No-Contract Gopher Control for Homes, Farms, Horse Properties, & Commercial Sites

Fresh soil mounds, underground tunnels, damaged roots, and repeated soil disturbance can indicate pocket gopher activity. These burrowing rodents can affect lawns, gardens, pastures, landscaping, crops, irrigation systems, and ground used by livestock or equipment.

Akers Pest Control provides gopher control for residential, agricultural, and commercial properties throughout Marion County. We’re a family-owned pest control company that opened in 2019, backed by more than 30 years of pest control experience. Our background includes residential pest control and work on farms and horse properties, so we know how to deliver targeted solutions that account for specialized needs.

What Our Gopher Inspections Check For

A useful inspection considers where fresh mounds appear, how often new disturbance develops, and what parts of the property may be affected. Disappearing plants, damaged roots, uneven ground, and recurring soil piles can help show where underground activity is concentrated.

Important areas to evaluate include:

  • Lawns and turf
  • Gardens and ornamental beds
  • Pastures and livestock areas
  • Crops and managed acreage
  • Irrigation areas
  • Commercial landscaping

We use what we find during these inspections to prepare a free estimate suited to your property and develop personalized treatment and exclusion options.

Pocket Gophers vs. Gopher Tortoises

A pocket gopher is a burrowing rodent that creates underground tunnels and feeds on plant material, including roots. A gopher tortoise is protected Florida wildlife, not an interchangeable pest. Gopher tortoises and their burrows occur in Marion County and are protected under state law.

If a burrow may belong to a gopher tortoise, don’t disturb or damage it. Depending on the planned activity at the site, a permit from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission may be required. We don’t present pocket gopher service as gopher tortoise relocation, permitting, or protected-species work.

Gopher Control by Property Type

Property size and use shape the service needed. We provide agricultural and horse farm pest services, and our owner’s involvement in the equine community brings practical familiarity with working properties where pastures, animals, access routes, and daily operations all matter.

PROPERTY CONSIDERATIONS
Control by Property Type
Residential Properties
In yards and gardens, attention may center on visible mounds, turf, ornamental plants, garden beds, and areas where roots or irrigation could be affected.
Farms & Horse Properties
Managed acreage may require consideration of pasture use, livestock areas, equipment routes, fencing, landscaping, and changing ground conditions. We customize service to the farm and its pest concerns.
Commercial Grounds
For commercial sites, planning may account for customer and employee access, landscaped areas, outdoor workspaces, and the way the property is used throughout the day.

No contract is required to get started, and quarterly service plans are available when recurring pest pressure or ongoing monitoring makes scheduled service appropriate. We can discuss whether recurring service fits the conditions found during our inspection.
